Through the perspective of his father, an ex-cop named Ismail Kadri, Bambai Meri Jaan follows the life of gangster Dara Kadri. As he develops into a ruthless, cold-blooded gangster in this season, Dara puts everything on the line, including his family, and uses his business savvy to battle not just the authorities and his rivals but also his own demons along the way.
Dinesh Prabhakar laughs and declares, "Finally, I have entered the underworld." The actor has frequently discussed how he left college to move to Mumbai (then Bombay) in order to "see the underworld and be a part of it," after being inspired by the Malayalam film Aryan. "Even though that didn't happen in real life, I have lived that life on screen," the actor claims in reference to his character, Anna Rajan Mudaliar, in the recent web series, Bambai Meri Jaan, which is currently available on Amazon Prime Video.
Bambai Meri Jaan, a movie produced by Farhaan Akhtar and Ridhesh Sidhwani and directed by Shujaat Saudagar, is based on the book Dongri to Dubai: Six Decades of Mumbai. written by S Hussain Zaidi, who is credited with creating the series' plot.
Based on Varadaraja Mudaliar, a significant figure in the history of the Mumbai mafia, who together with Haji Mastan and Karim Lala (Haji Maqbool and Azeem Pathan in the series) ruled the underworld until Dawood Ibrahim and his team took over the business, Anna, as Dinesh is referred to in the show, is a South Indian gangster.
Dinesh claims that the casting company for the show, Casting Bay, called him to schedule an audition for the part.
Even though it happened in 2018, they were halfway through the shoot when the epidemic struck. "It was challenging to reschedule the actors' schedules when the shoot resumed, which caused the project to go farther behind schedule. We had to wait because multiple series were scheduled for distribution on Amazon by the time the shoot was over, the actor claims.
