Actress-singer Mamta Mohandas has seen numerous gaps throughout her 18 years in the business; "a consistent wave," as she describes it. The actor continues to be in high demand despite having performed in around 50 Malayalam films as well as a number of Tamil and Telugu productions. And during all of these years and pauses, music and film have remained consistent. They have also played more roles than one might anticipate, as is clear when she thinks back to her childhood in Bahrain.
Mamta entered the film industry hesitantly, even though the part of her that loved films would have wished her luck. "Since I wasn't even an actor, I was a reluctant actor. I was nervous, had problems with my body image, and had a lot of inhibitions that made me shy and insecure. There was no part of me that was concerned with how I presented myself. She claims that she didn't feel that way because of the filmmaking process, which she claims she actually enjoys the most. "Being an actor also involves how you present yourself, for example, during promotions, and that was challenging to accept."
One such movie is her upcoming Tamil production Maharaja, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi. The producer Sudhan Sundaram (of Passion Studios) gave me a quick description of my role, but he also said that I might feel a layer of that character throughout the entire movie. No, Mamta promises you—unlike in Jana Gana Mana or her previous Tamil appearance, Enemy—she isn't killed off in this movie. I believe that people enjoy killing me on television because they seem to believe that since she didn't actually pass away, it's okay to do so (laughs). Mamta portrays the sole female lead in the vengeance saga Maharaja. According to the actor, the drama includes a strong protagonist and antagonist.
She agreed to play Maharaja, but more than the role or the plot, it was the fact that it was the 50th Vijay Sethupathi movie. "I merely adore him. Serious actor Sethu sir. In actuality, he is an artist more so than an actor. That is really uncommon in the business. In my opinion, Mohanlal Sir, Kamal Haasan Sir, and Vijay Sethupathi Sir are India's top three film artistes. Mamta remembers the first time she met Vijay Sethupathi during an awards ceremony. "I could see that he was still in character when he was filming for Super Deluxe (in which he plays a transwoman)! "Even when he took the stage,"
